When foolish standards are hammered and fed to us through screens

Photographs rip us in half and lie and kill with their magazines 

Our thoughts are drowned out by narratives comparative to the past 

How long do we live to give our dimming light that barely stood a chance?

As it gets harder to breathe and conceive a thought that’s not our own

We’re then told to sacrifice as a compromise for their lies unknown

When they’re in a hurry to bury us strategically since birth

And all we’ve ever known has shown up as old men who tell us what we’re worth

They raise us then they blame us and divide us for scraps

They attack us and distract us and their meds set us up for relapse

Don’t confuse this abuse for care when they’ve set us up against each other

It’s time to open our eyes and prepare for what’s been uncovered 

Just when we thought we knew enough we’re brought into a rabbit hole

With a needle for our feeble minds connecting these truths that unfold

As we each slowly awake from all the fake dreams they sold

Look beyond the sky and realize you’re one less soul they can control

Shadow Work

 Hours of dreaming but I’m still awake

You think I’m close but I’m far away 

The smile drawn across my face is not one you recognize

When my soul changes color behind the eyes

When the heat from my hands begin to rise

These kings and queens with dirt in their nails are being put to rest

With half truths so cold that you can see their breath

It’s the only thing you can control if you wanna do it right

 Hope is a thing we dreamt about

If only we knew where we’d be now

I see your face in every sleep

Reckless dreams of discovery

Clarity

I’ve tried to convince myself

It wasn’t this

It was something else

But it breaks me to break these walls

Another fall and rejected help

Cause I’m full of it when I feel so empty

Standing right here where I left me

Off the Page

Every word I swallowed

I wrote in my mind

Every word I followed

I was just a step behind

I used to be in someone else’s story

But I jumped off the page

And rewrote another for me

No damsel needing to be saved

I can carve your name on paper

How you had stars in your eyes

And I’ll save the rest for later

My story comes with a price 

But you can read about me

And all the battles I’ve won

How I learned to dust my knees

And how I dreamed beneath the sun

With lavender pillow thoughts

And magnolia feathered downs 

The moon untied all my knots 

And sang my written words aloud 

No more silence in between 

No more waiting to be seen

My story has now been redeemed

In a song far outside this dream

Ricochet

You pull me in

With your magnetism 

And when time delays

We ricochet 

Electrtofying

Lighting up every sky

Of all the constellations lines

Specks of stars in our veins

Illuminate our skin

I see you and you see me

Where do you end and I begin? 

But gravity pulls me down

When you pull away

An endless pit without a ground

Across the milky way 

There’s a lapse in time

As our light unties

A silent guide who won the fight 

Lost in the abyss

The same two stars

In different parts of time

Lotus

Grab the dirt beneath your hands

And throw it at the sky

Just when you think you can’t 

Get up and defy 

The voices they feed you 

Dust your knees though they bleed

And take a deep breath

Don’t you hide when they seek

Something they’ll regret

With their silver spoons

Rise against the odds

And look them in the eyes

When they expect a fall

Watch their script revise 

To spout more lies on cue 

Some things were hard to swallow

Some things made you choke

Some things were blindly followed

Some things were just a joke

But they didn’t know 

When you kept your mouth closed

They’d get another dose

Giving themselves the most

But you’re the one who grew

Guess they didn’t notice

They’re the ones who lose

As you rise up like the lotus 

Leaving them confused

Your hands hold petals now

Though your knees are scabbed 

Your roots push up a muddy crown

An anomaly they can’t grasp

When the hope is low
