Crooked Crown

There’s a depth in your eyes
Where you broke
And let in the light

Drown in the dark
Swallow the hollows of their words
They mean well
But you can’t be heard

Years are just years
Time is a lie
Don’t blame their fear
They don’t know what it’s like

Can you trust the ground you walk on?
Or your hands to pull you up?
No one’s wrong
When their versions of love have changed

Change is constant
Ask the ones who named
Each constellation
 Maps were never the same

Our souls can’t lie
Or hide the truth
No matter how hard we try
Win or lose

So where will we end up?
Will we rise or drown?
Embrace this new love
And wear a crooked crown

Love Always,
Lainey
